Do regenerative treatments work for joint soreness?
Regenerative treatments include office procedures using preparations from blood, bone marrow, or fat. Some people report easier movement or less soreness, but the exact care and joint matter. One large study divided 480 people with osteoarthritis, meaning wear-and-tear arthritis, among several knee treatments. Prepared cells didn't ease pain more than corticosteroid, a common steroid, at twelve months. Some smaller studies found less pain or easier movement with other preparations. Ask which study tested the care being offered to you.
How long might relief last?
There's no dependable length of relief for every procedure or joint. The answer isn't the same for each prepared fluid, sore joint, or time studied. Ask when your daily movement will be checked and what improvement may last. Also find out what comes next if soreness returns.
How successful is this care for knees?
Knees have more research than many other joints, but those procedures aren't all alike. The large study found no extra pain relief at twelve months, while smaller studies found less pain or easier movement. Ask how many people could climb stairs, walk, or sleep more easily. Your own goal may be one of those tasks or returning to golf.
Is regenerative care worth the cost?
That depends on the complete price, the research for that procedure, and the relief you value. Get every visit and any repeat care listed in writing. Compare that amount with home care, covered choices, and a surgery opinion when needed. Don't let a package price rush your choice.

When does joint soreness need urgent care?
Prompt care matters when fever comes with new heat and swelling in a joint. Sudden trouble bearing weight, a joint that's newly out of place, weakness, or numbness also matters. Call promptly about new calf swelling or redness that spreads after a procedure. If you're unsure, contact your regular doctor or use urgent care.

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis of 8 randomized trials in 502 patients found intra-articular mesenchymal stem cells improved WOMAC scores versus control at 6 months (MD 7.44, 95% CI 1.45-13.42) and 12 months (MD 10.31, 95% CI 0.96-19.67), with wide confidence intervals and a small pooled sample.

A 2025 meta-analysis of 73 double-blind placebo-controlled injection trials in 5,895 knee osteoarthritis patients found placebo responder rates above 50 percent at 1, 3 and 6 months, declining by 12 months - which is why any uncontrolled 'our patients improved' claim from a clinic is uninterpretable.
